Snoqualmie Valley Garden Club

As a 501c3, SVGC’s mission is to inform, educate, and inspire our members and the community in the art, science, and joy of gardening, while fostering a commitment to environmental stewardship.

Autumn in the Garden

As we move from the warmth of summer into the crisp days of fall, it’s a great time to take stock of the garden and make plans for planting. Cooler temperatures and the coming rain make autumn ideal for adding perennials, bulbs, and even trees. We’ve got a strong lineup of speakers to close out the year, each bringing practical tips and fresh inspiration.

For our October 14th meeting, we welcome Phil Bennett. A Board Certified Master Arborist and Certified Urban Forest Professional, and a past-President of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture, currently serving as the deputy director of Parks & Public Works for the City of Snoqualmie, and on the core leadership team of the Green Communities Leadership Institute.  Phil has extensive experience with landscape tree planting and care and native forest restoration in the upper Snoqualmie Valley. He will be presenting “Small Trees For Puget Sound Gardens” and will focus on proven small tree varieties for planting in the Snoqualmie Valley, with a focus on varieties resilient to changing climate.  The presentation will also cover an update on the health of our native tree species, including information on emergent diseases, best-practices for tree planting, and tips for maintaining tree & landscape health.

For our November 11th meeting, Terry Pottmeyer will present “Designing Your Dream Garden in the Depths of December.”

Both presentations will be held at our usual meeting place at Encompass from 6:30pm - 8:30. For more event information, check out our Events page!

🍂 Volunteer with Us at Oaktoberfest!

The Garden Club is seeking friendly volunteers to help staff our table at this year’s Oaktoberfest. We’ll be sharing tips on how to incorporate native plants into local landscapes, and you don’t need to be a plant expert to participate! Whether you're passionate about gardening or simply enjoy connecting with the community, you can help by sharing general information about the Garden Club and what we do.

It’s a great way to meet neighbors, support sustainable gardening, and represent our club in a fun, festive setting. Contact us at info@snovalleygc.org
